Michael Kluver

‘Breuer’, ‘Rietveld’ and ‘Eames’ from the series ‘Just chairs’ (2011) by Michael Kluver

The chairs in Kluver’s series are altered versions of modernist design classics. All pushed back into the simple archetypal form, all of them now are dominated by simple ergonomic dimensions. Same seating height, seating width, seating depth, overall height, and angle of the backrest.

Christian Andersson

‘9 was 6 if’ (2005) by Christian Andersson

Two chairs change in colour every 4th minute. What looks like two ordinary chairs on display, are in fact two totally modified replicas holding an internal water system. The changing temperature of the water affects the surface of the chairs, coated with heat-reacting paint. When the chair is cold, it is black, but when heated up it turns white.

Christoph Büchel

Christoph Büchel, ‘Minus’ (2002)

A punk-concert was held inside a room at the Kunstverein Hannover. Immediately after the show, the entire room was frozen.

Tomo Savic-Gecan

Untitled (2011) by Tomo Savic-Gecan

The room shown in the movie is one out of four rooms for the installation ‘untitled’ (2011). Savic-Gecan made this installation for the Witte de With, Rotterdam (NL) exhibition Melanchotopia. The text on the wall explains: “Every change in temperature in the city of Rotterdam causes one of the spaces in Witte de With to open and close.”
