Two chairs change in colour every 4th minute. What looks like two ordinary chairs on display, are in fact two totally modified replicas holding an internal water system. The changing temperature of the water affects the surface of the chairs, coated with heat-reacting paint. When the chair is cold, it is black, but when heated up it turns white.

I sent this letter to Sophie Calle shortly after my girlfriend broke up with me. Approximately one month later I received a full size bed. mattress, frame, linens, pillows, and comforter sent to me by Sophie Calle. I slept in Sophie’s bed for the next six months and corresponded with her via e.mail regarding my emotions and experiences in her bed.

Josh Greene sent this letter to Sophie Calle shortly after his girlfriend broke up with him. ‘The Sleepers’ (1979) by Sophie Calle.

In 1979, Sophie Calle asked several (23) persons, friends, strangers, neighbors, to come and spend eight hours in her bed in order to keep this bed occupied twenty-four hours a day. These people had to accept to be photographed and to answer some questions. She took photographs of the sleepers and noted the important elements of these short meetings: subjects of discussion, positions of the sleepers, their movements during their sleep, the detailed menu of their breakfast she was preparing for them.
