The series ‘You see I am here after all’ by Zoe Leonard.
A work comprising several thousand vintage postcards of Niagara Falls, dating from the early 1900s to the 1950s. Rendered stereotypical and generic through repetition over decades, these landscape motifs are emblematic of mass culture’s transformation of natural sites into tourist destinations. As installed at the Dia Art Foundation, Beacon, NY.

Pictures of the exhibition ‘Objekte als Freunde’ (‘Objects as friends’) by Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys at the Kestnergesellschaft in Hannover, on view until August 16, 2011.
The exhibition consisted of 168 photographs of installations of the most random objects from 1 euro-shops or thrift stores, all of the same size and very detailed.
From different corners of the room came a generic, dull, computerized voice describing different colours and their associations and meaning. This sound belonged to the animation shown below.

‘Blinks’ (1969), by Vito Acconci
Acconci set himself the task of walking a continuous line down a street, holding a camera aimed away from him, ready to shoot. He tried not to blink. Each time he did, he snapped a photo.
