A work comprising several thousand vintage postcards of Niagara Falls, dating from the early 1900s to the 1950s. Rendered stereotypical and generic through repetition over decades, these landscape motifs are emblematic of mass culture’s transformation of natural sites into tourist destinations. In this performance/video/game Mckay wrote a program and built custom hardware that allowed him to mix the sunset live. He then projected with a video projector, from his computer onto a garage in a field behind his studio. As the sun set behind the building he attempted to match the color of the sunset with the projector.
Empty plastic bottles found by chance on the streets of Paris are transformed into rockets. A bicycle pump is used to compress a mixture of water and air inside the bottle until the pressure is built up high enough to fire it into the sky.
