One day, at the IMMA, the nice museum of modern art in Dublin…
Fire-extinguishers on pedestals.
A Christmas tree that barely fits the hall spreads the holiday cheer.
The solo-exhibition ‘November’ by Philippe Parreno spreads different vibes.
The view on the main hallway of the wing where Parreno showed.
An adaptation of ‘Orange Bay (After Gabriel Tarde’s Fragment of Future History)’ (2002) and an installment of ‘Speech Bubbles’ (1997) in the main hallway.
‘AC/DC Snakes’ were installed in every socket in every room. Strange, but funny sculptures…
Ofcourse there was a shell with no ghost in it in the show… ‘Anywhere out of the world’ (2000)
Why the video’s sound was divided over three of the gallery spaces was a bit of a riddle to me. Meanwhile, ‘Orange Bay’ gave a slightly electric atmosphere to the rooms it was installed in.
‘The boy from Mars’ (2005) A neon-sign buzzing annoyingly, raising expectations, because the video of the same name was to be seen in the adjacent room.
Or not. A disappointing ending to the show.
So out we go again…
