The artist proposed to a collector that he collects all the work that he, the artist, will produce in 2020 (even though it’s hard to tell what his work will be like in 10 years). The price of these 2020 works is 300.000 RMB. Through a legal agreement, the artist guarantees to the collector that he will produce no less than 6 works in 2020 (and all editions will belong to the collector). The artist also guarantees that, after 10 years, the value of his work will be at least double the price of what the collector would pay today.

A documentary focused on the future of long-term digital storage, the history of the Internet and attempts to preserve its contents on a massive scale.

Part one features Brewster Kahle, founder of the Internet Archive and his colleagues Robert Miller, director of books, and Alexis Rossi, director of web collections. On a mission to create universal access to all knowledge, the Internet Archive’s staff have built the world’s largest online library, offering 10 petabytes of archived websites, books, movies, music, and television broadcasts.
The video includes a tour of the Internet Archive’s headquarters in San Francisco, the book scanning center, and the book storage facilities in Richmond, California.

‘Preservation of Ikea tea-cup’ (2005) by Maarten Vanden Eynde

When the Ikea catalogue became the most printed book in human history (beating the bible for the first time ever), Vanden Eynde decided to give history a hand and preserve an Ikea tea-cup. Climbed over the fence of Il Foro Romanum, the old city center of Rome, he buried a tea-cup under the observation of a visiting crowd of shocked tourists. The cup is still there, to be discovered by future archaeologists.

A new Ikea tea-cup and plate were broken and afterwards restored with restoration paste. It was made in the same week as the intervention work Preservation of Ikea tea-cup.

A video installation following a piece of marble getting carved out of a rock in China and traveling to the exhibition space in Paris. On the boat, during the trip, the marble stone gets transformed into a classical column by Chinese sculptors. The column is then presented outside of the exhibition space, while the video of the journey is presented inside.
